A Visitation for Marilyn will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112, with a Celebration of Life on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Marilyn was born in Fort Worth to Joseph “Joe” and Helen “Granny” Whisenand on September 15, 1947. She graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1965, where she played tennis, danced on the drill team, and formed lifelong friendships.
While Marilyn and L.A. met in the sixth grade, they did not form their love connection until friends set them up in 1968, when L.A. was in the Army and Marilyn had just begun her career in real estate. The two married on May 29, 1970, starting their family and living their love story on the Eastside of Fort Worth.
For 25 years, Marilyn worked alongside Granny at Fort Worth Real Estate. The two were a dynamic duo, transcending the childhood bonds of mother and daughter into a lifelong connection as business partners and constant companions. After Granny’s death, Marilyn joined another family business, Whiz-Q-Stone, where she was able to make use of her math talents, ability to charm customers, and her gift of gab.
Marilyn loved working in the yard and was an avid sports fan, especially the College World Series. On Friday afternoons, she could most likely be found garage sale hunting, a lifelong passion. Marilyn never met a stranger and was known as the “Queen Bee” of Greenlee Street.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her son Jeff and her parents Joe and Helen.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 55 years L.A., her daughter Sherry, her son Brian, her grandsons Connor, Leo, and Isaac, her sister Janet, her brothers Jim, Jack, and Charlie, her lovable dog Tess, and many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Community Healthcare of Texas at chot.org. The family of Marilyn wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. John Adams and the staff of Texas Oncology, the amazing hospice caregivers of Community Healthcare of Texas, and to the many family members and friends who have always been there through thick and thin.
