Martha Ann Orand, the sweetest soul in this world was born on January 15, 1927 and passed away this November 16, 2019. 92 years of being kind and compassionate with love for everyone she ever met. Even from her hospital bed where she lay suffering with difficulty breathing and struggling to swallow she would reach for the hands of her nurses and caregivers wanting to know their names and assuring them that no matter her condition or concerns that “it'll be better tomorrow.” Always looking for and finding the good in everything and everyone, this most beautiful sweet soul has been lifted up through the gates of Heaven into the arms of the Lord.
She loved to be outside and loved to be taken on rides around Fort Worth seeing how much it’s changed. She doted on two tiny newborn kittens she rescued from the hedges outside and fed with a tiny eye dropper till they were fat and had taken over the house. For the next 18 years “Rocky” and “Susie,” were her babies and her constant companions. They would watch the birds through the window and watch the squirrels stealing seed from the bird feeder.
Patient and always willing to listen over a cup of coffee she was our precious mom and grannyma. She shared her wisdom and advice with anyone who needed it and she loved Jesus and an old hymn she sang in church when she was a young girl many years ago, “God Will Take Care of You.” During the worst of her latest illness she sang this song perfectly even when she could barely speak to her son and even to hospital personnel during the recent tough times when facing the impossible. She knew she was going to heaven and that she would be leaving us very soon. She was very concerned about us and we were blessed to hear her sing during the last few days reassuring us that God will take care of us after she was gone.
Mother of 3, grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 11. Our hearts are broken and her gentle presence is terribly missed but we will see her again in the sweet by and by..
