Flocked together on Monday night, December 1, 2025, we let go of our very own powerhouse of love: Mary Fenichis Kime. If you are one of the lucky ones, then you know within that petite, beautiful frame, lived a dynamo of kindness, gentleness, spark, and grace who showered her gifts on everyone in her life.
Born to Greek immigrant parents, +Angela and +George, Mary was the quintessential youngest – tailing her sister Carrie, but to the beat of her own spirited, rhythmic core – even once asking her father to bring her home a “blue mommy.” She did the unconventional and went away to college to earn her teaching degree. Then, in 1964 she married her beloved +Arney, rolling with him as he served the Air Force in Japan and Hawaii. They were blessed with 52 beautiful years together, and their home was filled with prayer, love, laughter, family dinners, and parties that almost always broke into Greek dancing.
Never a more natural fit for education, Mary had the ability to find and appreciate every child’s strength, and for 36 years was one of the warmest and best elementary teachers Ft. Worth could hope to have. Now imagine that tenfold, as a mother to Christopher and Mark, her two greatest joys. They married and gave her something she always wanted: Daughters! Marrlen and Shelia loved her back just as much, and Mary would describe them as wonderful, attentive, loving, “and great ladies.” Plus, they adore her boys, and we know that meant more to Mary than anything.
However, it’s her three grandsons who captured her most cherished qualities. Mary always honored the reward of truly knowing someone and never felt that way more than with Alec, her artist and first grandson, Zachary Apollo, her Aggie and youngest, and Nicholas who, able to be with her, kneeled beside her as she transitioned into the Kingdom of God.
Mary is a devout Orthodox Christian who served the Church and prayed diligently for those she loved. We know and are grateful she will continue to. Still, we are a sea of sons, daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, Koumbari, friends – and a sister - who will miss her greatly and thank God she was ours.
With devout love and respect, we pray her memory eternal.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2020 NW 21st St, Fort Worth, TX 76164.
