Now the laborer's task is over; 
Now the Battle day is past; 
Now upon the farther shore 
Lands the voyager at last. 

It is with great sorrow that we part with our sister, Mary Helen Shelton on this side of Jordan, but oh what joy when we meet on the other side. When we reach that blessed homeland, where there's everlasting day; on that bright and blessed morning, God shall wipe all tears away. 

Always bear in mind that spirit was never born and spirit can never die. Remember that God gives grace for each trial, and courage for each sorrow and faith to face in confidence a blessed, sweet, blissful and bright tomorrow. 

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Shelton in the early eighties, as I arrived as a new faculty member of Trimble Tech High School. During my twenty years at Tech High School, Mrs. Shelton served as our school's Business Manager, and was a respected member of the Tech Family. Mrs. Shelton was a very kind and compassionate lady. The Trimble Tech Family, The Fort Worth Independent School District, the city of Fort Worth, State of Texas, the Fort Worth Community and nation has lost an outstanding citizen. As I go to my Father in prayer, I will ask for a special blessing for the entire family of Mrs. Mary Helen Shelton.

Rick:  I just heard that your mother died earlier this month.  I have many good memories of being over at your house in Hallmark during the 1970s.  Your mom put up with a lot from both of us, but she always kept a calm demeanor outside.  I just wanted to say that I am sorry to hear about her passing.

I knew Miss Mary from Christ United Methodist Church where she was a member.  I will remember her as a sweet lady who often made me laugh.  

My condolences to the family.

To my cousins, Linda, Libby and Rick-I wish I could be there Saturday-definitely thinking of you  and your loss. Your Mom was a great lady and much help to me when your Aunt June was sick.

Libby.  The trials have been so hard for Mary Helen.  I feel I have known her just with what you & my brother Sam have shared with me.  A fine Texas Lady just like her daughter. My sweet Aunt Mary Helen..daddy's baby sister whom he adored since she was a tiny baby...such a fun person, with a keen sense of humor who loved all her family, and especially loved to come to her native Paris and Lamar County. She grew up in Petty and enjoyed returning there for the annual Homecoming which has been held for 31 years in October. She will be missed by all.

I wish that I could be there with you during this time.  Just know that you are all in my heart, prayers and thoughts.  I loved Grandmother SO Much and will cherish my memories of her and my time living with her.
