Nancy Lou Reed

A Visitation for Nancy will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112, with a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.

Nancy was born in Dallas, Texas to Clyde and Louise Henderson on June 10, 1926. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English at Texas Women’s University and her Master’s Degree in English from the University of Michigan. She married Sidney Davis Reed in 1959 in Honey Grove, Texas at the home of her parents. Nancy was an Associate Professor of English at the University of Texas at Arlington for 25 years before retiring. Prior to that she taught high school English in Garland, Texas.

Nancy was formerly a member of Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Arlington for many years and volunteered there in several capacities. She supported the local arts communities in Arlington and Ft. Worth. Nancy was a member of a local YMCA, a book club and loved to square dance with her husband Sidney. She loved traveling and camping. She was a very devoted, loving and supportive mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Sidney. She is survived by her children Nancy Stansbury and Jack Reed, and Jack’s wife, her daughter-in-law, Israwal Yeing Thatthamla Reed. She is also survived by her grandchildren Hannah Stansbury, Ethan Reed and Emma Reed.

Donations in Nancy Reed’s honor, can be given to Symphony Arlington of Arlington, Texas or Arlington Life Shelter.
