Nelda Bess Hooper

Nelda was born on October 20, 1935 in Cleburne, TX to Eldon J. and Bessie Lee Dyer. As a young girl she grew up in Odessa, TX and graduated from Odessa High School in 1954. She married Pat Livingston in 1955 and together they had four children: Steven, Darrell, Shelley and LaGatha.

Nelda moved to Everman, TX in 1962. She then married Horace Hooper in 1979. Together they created a loving home in Everman and later moved to Joshua, TX in 2004. Horace and Nelda were married for 43 wonderful years.

Nelda lived out the commandment to love the Lord your God with all you heart and love your neighbor as yourself. This was apparent through her dedication to her church at Alvarado Church of Christ, active contribution to Meals on Wheels delivery for 15 years, and volunteer work through the American Cancer Society for 20 years. Additionally, Nelda served as a Sales Associate and Department Buyer at Stripling and Cox for 31 years before retiring in 2001. Most of all her servant heart for others could be seen in the way she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Nelda could always be caught making delicious meals in her kitchen and playing games such as Chicken Foot & Wahoo with her family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her vibrant personality, love, and devotion to others will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Nelda is preceded in death by her parents: Eldon J. and Bessie Lee Dyer; her sister: Billie Sadberry; and daughter in law: Vivian Livingston.

Survivors include her husband: Horace S. Hooper III of Joshua, TX; her son: Steven Livingston of Walnut Springs, TX; her son: Darrell Livingston and his wife Lisa of Alvord, TX: her daughter: Shelley and her husband Jimmy Goebel of Glen Rose, TX: her daughter: LaGatha and her husband Russell Baxter of Burleson, TX; stepson Mark Hooper and his wife Shamarie of Mansfield TX: her brother: Louis K. Dyer of Abilene, TX; ten grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, TX. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday October 22, 2022 at the Laurel Land Funeral Home chapel.
