Nell F. Featherston, age 89, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022 with her children, Jon and Jan, and faithful aide, Keila at her side. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17 and 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18 preceding the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas with Dr. Justin Kinsley officiating.
Nell was born on October 29, 1932 in Subiaco, Arkansas. She graduated from Paris High School as Salutatorian in 1951 and soon after began her career as a bank teller. In 1954, she married Bill Featherston, and they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they raised their family. They were active in church, enjoyed traveling, and loved spending time with family and friends. In 2000, Bill and Nell moved to Orange, Texas where they were members of North Orange Baptist Church.
Nell was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She had a servant’s heart that enabled her to selflessly care for her mother, father, and husband through extended illnesses. She was an excellent homemaker who loved to cook delicious meals for her family to enjoy. She always loved dogs and is survived by her precious chihuahua, Coco.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Spicer and Bertha (Miles) Spicer, and husband, Bill.
Nell is survived by her son, Jon Featherston and wife Rhonda of Plano; daughter, Jan Miller and husband Eric of Lewisville; three grandchildren, Rachel Kinsley and husband Justin of Edmond, OK, Aaron Miller and wife Andrea of Lewisville, and Blake Featherston of Plano; and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Jo and Hallie Kate Kinsley of Edmond, OK.
We would like to extend special thanks to all her caregivers in Orange, Beaumont, Carrolton, and Plano; especially Carla Umpire at Alma Residential Care where her last days of life were happy, comfortable, and meaningful.
