Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 30th,1942, Pat graduated from Poly High and went on to receive her associate’s degree from TWC Texas Wesleyan University. She married Mr. Gary Lee Matthews on May 18th in 1962 in Ft. Worth, Texas.
She worked as a bookkeeper for J.L Matthews and as a preschool teacher, but also remained a strong member of her community. In her spare time, Pat took on coaching softball, leading a Girl Scout troop, keeping active in a business and professional women’s club, heating up the lanes with her bowling league, and serving on various committees in her church—including ministering to the congregation’s youth.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Tivis and Millicent Pruitt.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Matthews, her son, Danny Ray Matthews (Jennifer), daughter LeAnne Gissiner (Brian), grandchildren; Blake Petersen (Andrew), Taylor Davis (Benjamin), Alec Gissiner, Allison Gissiner, McKendree Bentzel (Madelyn) and Harrison Matthews, her brother Tivis Ronald Pruitt, niece Kristie Phillips and nephew Tivis Ronald Pruitt II. Great-grandchildren; Camden & Eloise Petersen, Hattie Jo Davis and Merrit Bentzel.
Funeral arrangements for Pat will be held at 11:00 AM, February 17th, at Edge Park Methodist Church, with a preceding visitation at 10:00 AM.
Serving as pallbearers are Harrison Matthews, Alec Gissiner, Andrew Petersen, Benjamin Davis and McKendree Bentzel.
