A Life of Fandom and Joy: Pauline’s love for the Texas Rangers baseball team was unwavering. She rarely missed a game, and her cheers echoed through the living room and telephone lines as she watched her team play. When they clinched the World Series championship last year, Granny’s joy knew no bounds. After 52 years of watching the Rangers, they’d finally done it!
Country Music and Grand Old Opry: Granny’s heartbeat to the rhythm of country music. George Jones was her favorite. She’d sway to his tunes, whether on the radio, television, or one of his many concerts that she’d attended. But it was the Grand Old Opry that truly captured her soul. She’d sit by the TV, watching and listening to legends singing their hearts out.
Adventures with Loved Ones: With her husband, siblings, daughters, nieces, nephews, granddaughter, and great granddaughters, Pauline explored many places. She made almost annual trips to Nashville to see her beloved country music stars and later took trips to France, Italy, and Ireland. There were also annual cruises with her sister Earline. Granny reveled in the journey.
Caregiver to All: After retirement, Pauline was a caregiver to many family members. She was passionate about ensuring that her family had the best care whenever they were in need.
Banana Pudding and Family Gatherings: Granny’s kitchen was a haven of warmth and delicious aromas. Her scratch-made banana pudding was legendary. Family gatherings were her specialty. The dining table groaned under the weight of comfort food, and laughter spilled into every corner of the house. Pauline believed that food was love, and her heart overflowed with both.
Proud Matriarch: Pauline’s family was her greatest achievement. Brothers Gary and Billy, sisters Charlene, Maxine, and Earline—each held a special place in her heart. Her daughters, Linda and Sherry, carried her legacy forward. And when her grandkids, Jenny and Chris, arrived, Granny spoiled them rotten. Daily calls from her will be missed by Jenny, Billy, and Charlene.
Hailey and Chloe: But it was her great granddaughters, Hailey and Chloe, who stole her heart and that she imparted her Texas twang upon. Granny would sit with them, trading stories, and soaking it all in. She was always interested in what they were up to and loved her visits with them.
As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Pauline Waters not with tears, but with gratitude. She lived a life rich in love, adventure, and the simple pleasures that make things extraordinary. May her memory continue to inspire us to embrace each day with open arms, just as Granny did.
