

He was born in Mobile, AL on September 2, 1951. The son of Richard B. McDonald and Jane McDonald, and birth mother Peggy Rae McDonald. A graduate of Southwest High School in Fort Worth. Richard grew up with a strong work ethic and a love for building and creating that would define his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his birth mother, and his brother, Rusty McDonald.
Richard opened, owned, and operated his own business as a commercial door contractor, supplying and installing commercial doors and hardware throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. In addition to running his own company, he worked in logistics and operations management, always taking pride in the quality of his work and his reputation for excellence.
Outside of work, Richard enjoyed hunting, working on projects around his home, and building or creating things with his own hands. His greatest joy came from spending time with his five grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to his life.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Candice McDonald; his children Cody McDonald and wife Shaylynn, Hilary Hodges and husband Barry, and Christian McDonald and wife Megan; grandchildren Ashlynn and Madelynn McDonald, Hudson and Rylin Hodges, and Eloise McDonald; and siblings Jack McDonald, Steve McDonald, Debbie Payne, and Kirk McDonald.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his unwavering work ethic, and his pride in a job well done. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the projects he built, and the family he loved so deeply.
