

Born Rita Jeanne Dolson in Hammond, Indiana and raised in Griffith, Indiana, she graduated from Griffith High School in 1963. After graduation, Rita married Glenn Allen Meier on June 21, 1963 at age 17 and moved to California to start a family. Eventually the family settled in the Arlington/Mansfield, Texas area.
Rita attended Mount San Antonio College in Southern California and became a successful Programmer and Systems Analyst at Tandy Corporation in Fort Worth.
Rita enjoyed playing tennis, tasting wine and bragging about her kids and grandkids. Her favorite thing to do was be with her family, play competitive board and card games and cheer for her grandchildren at their sports events. Rita loved taking pictures, making people smile and never met a stranger. She was also a dedicated member of the Daughters of the King at St. Peter & St. Paul Anglican Church in Arlington, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Allen Meier, and parents, Robert and Alice Dolson. She is survived by her siblings, Ken Dolson, Karen Storm, Richard Dolson, Janice Sharer and Roberta Thiel.
Rita is survived by her two sons and their wives, who she loved dearly: Kevin and Melinda, and Kris and Melanie. Rita had 4 grandchildren: Patrick and Hayley (Kris and Melanie) and Madeline and Nicholas (Kevin and Melinda).
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct 4, 2019 at 6:00 pm with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located at 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct 5, 2019 at 10 am at St. Peter & St Paul Anglican Church, 3900 Morris Lane, Arlington TX 76016 with a reception following.
Rita will be interred at a later date next to her beloved husband Glenn at the Laurel Land Memorial Park, located at 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Rita's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.
