

Roland David Morris, Sr. of Fort Worth, passed away April 5, 2017. Roland was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on April 27, 1931. He served four years in the United States Air Force which brought him to Texas. He then graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Roland had a career as a Civil Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 27 years, retiring in 1986. He then went on to have a very successful 20 year career in the private sector as a consultant. He was married to Dorothy Lee Schoenemann, the love of his life, on July 18, 1953. They spent 54 wonderful years dancing together through life before she passed away in 2007. He is also preceded in death by his son, Roland David Morris, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Kim Harrington, her husband John and their two children Haley and Austin, and daughter Kelly Gardner, her husband Troy and their son TJ. He also leaves behind his precious dog Sandy who never left his side. Roland was a true Renaissance Man, a man of many talents and passions. He was a creative artist and craftsman, a master gardener, and an adventurous world traveler. He enjoyed water skiing as a young man, scuba diving and took up snow skiing at the age of 58. Roland dearly loved his family and nothing was more important to him. He put his family above all else. They loved him so very much and he will be greatly missed.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 11 at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth Texas 76112. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday April 10,2017.
