

After the family moved to Fort Worth, Ruth grew up in the Diamond Hill area, graduated from Diamond Hill high school in 1944, and was a member of the Texas Christ’s Ambassadors. She married her husband, O. L. Langston in 1950 and together they set up Langston Television Service. Using her sewing and dressmaking skills, she also worked as a seamstress at Richmond Bros.
Ruth was the songleader at Hillcrest Assembly of God in Arlington and with her children provided the opening and closing music for Rev. Barnes’s “The Gospel Messenger Broadcast.” She also attended Bethel Assembly in Arlington for over 25 years. In the late ‘60s, Ruth was awarded a lifetime membership for her volunteer work with the PTA. After raising 3 children, she began working for Weight Watchers, where she served over 20 years as the weigh-in clerk and receptionist.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, O.L. Langston, her parents, and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her children Kathryn Rocovich and husband, Bill; David Langston and wife, Marsha; and Dan Langston, and wife, Tonya; as well as seven grandchildren, Amy, Alex, Lauren, Ashley, Alanna, Olivia, and Zoe; and five great-grandchildren, Langston, Naysa, Gideon, Ozzy, and Arthur.
