Steven Wayne Nicholson entered into the presence of Jesus on March 16, 2026. His son, Wayne was with him, reassuring him that he was headed to the place that his Heavenly Father had prepared for him. Steve was 68 years old.
Steve was born on June 30, 1957 in Fort Worth, Texas to Don and Beverly Nicholson. Steve spent his childhood years growing up on the East side of Fort Worth and graduated from Eastern Hills High School in June, 1975.
After High School, Steve attended Stephen F Austin State University in Nacogdoches, graduating in 1979 with a BA in Communications. Steve was a member of Sigma Tau Alpha Fraternity while at Stephen F Austin. During his college years he DJ’d at several East Texas radio stations including: KSFA, KEEE (both Nacogdoches), KLUF (Lufkin), KDOK (Tyler/Longview).
Steve returned to the Metroplex and spent his next years working at many well known Rock & Roll Stations such as: Q102, KISS-FM, KEGL, KZPS, Y-95, and KZEW. He also had a few stints at a couple of country stations including KSCS and KPLX. He also worked for the Christian Station KLTY. Steve wrapped up his career in radio by working for ABC Radio Network as Program Director. He also hosted a syndicated radio show on ABC that was broadcasted nationally.
Steve chose to follow Jesus as his Savior as a young child and was baptized. As an adult he came to understand the true meaning of walking with Jesus daily, and renewed his commitment to his Savior. Steve overcame four types of cancer during his adult life. He often spoke with joy and conviction about how he would never have been able to do this without the presence, love and endurance that God had given him during his treatment and recovery. As was usual, his son Wayne was faithfully by his side during this difficult time.
Steve is preceded in death by his dear mother, Beverly Nicholson.
Steve is survived by his son, Donald Wayne Killian Nicholson of Weatherford, father, Don Nicholson of North Richland Hills, sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Rob Thomas of North Richland Hills, and four nieces and their families, Morgan Vinson, Kasey Thomas, Shelby Shelton and Emma Thomas.
