I can just picture Terry, as he left this world, being swept up to heaven in Jesus' loving arms and hearing the words "Well done, good and faithful servant" and laying down his crowns at the feet of Jesus and Terry worshiped.  

The story told at Terry's life celebration about how Terry and Donna's moms shared a baby shower party was amazing. I was not aware of this story,  but thanks for sharing.   The Nazarene Church in Borger was my church as we were growing up.  Terry was a stand up person always and I feel very fortunate to have known him. You could always count on Terry and you, Donna.  I remember going to your house during our childhoods after church - I remember you and your sister, Deena.  

Les and I are so glad that Terry is not in pain anymore.  He's already in his heavenly home and we will see him again.  That assurance is very comforting.  As Christians, we have that promise from God for our loved ones and ourselves.

As you go through the next few months, Donna, I'm sure it will be hard.  Please do not hesitate to call Les or myself for anything you might need.  We come up to Forth Worth fairly often as our son and two of our grandsons live there.

Our sincere condolences and love to you and your beautiful family.  What a legacy lives on in your daughters and grandchildren.  We will continue to keep all of you in our prayers.





It's hard to share "a" memory of someone who has been your brother for 52 years.  Terry was our spiritual leader, prayer partner and absolutely the silliest person I have ever known.  He married Todd and I (except for pronouncing us man and wife which he did a week later and accused us of living in sin for a week). He dedicated and baptized our children and married our daughter.  He conducted  our parents funerals.  
Terry was always all about the kids and I doubt there is one child anywhere that didn't love him.  He used the puppets for many years to "channel" his silliness accompanied by the Gospel.  Eternity will tell how many children gave their lives to Christ through his ministry.
Our family gatherings were sure to find the kids sitting on the floor in front of Terry listening one of his tall tales or watching him perform a "magic trick".  There were lots of giggles and adults rolling their eyes.  
Even before I met Todd, their love inspired me.  I would hope and pray for the kind of love they shared. (Thank you, Lord, for answering that prayer!  Their love continued to inspire me throughout life.  The dedication they had to one another was demonstrated until the day he went home to Jesus.
We will miss him greatly, but would never wish him back from his pain free life with the Jesus he loved so dearly.

Then, there was the silly side of Terry that everyone loved so much.  His puppets and  all of the children who were led to the Lord through that ministry, as silly as it was.  He loved children and was full of "tall tales" to keep them entertained.  Christmas was always filled with stories for the kids and lots of laughs and eye rolls from the adults.  
The love that he and Donna shared inspired me, even before I met Todd.  I hoped and prayed that I would find the kind of love they shared and that inspiration never stopped.  (Thank you, Lord, for answering that prayer)  The dedication they had for one another was demonstrated until his last day.  
We will miss him beyond explanation, but are so very happy that he is finally pain free and celebrating with the Jesus he loved so dearly and clung to everyday of his life.  We would not wish him back.  
We love you, Donna, TD, Kadee and all of those in your families.  We will stay close and love on you forever!!!!

Terry was no doubt one of the best examples of a Christian man. He loved God, family and others and it showed in his life. He was my brother in law, but to me he was my brother. Over 50 years we spent many precious times together, and enjoyed every minute. We both loved sports. Together we would play golf, tennis, basketball, softball, ping pong and any thing else we could find. Again, we had fun and Terry loved life. We had so many memories over the years. By the way Terry fell off the porch. His family will know what that means. In Odessa we worked together in the church. He was one of the pastors and I worked with the youth. I learned so much from this Godly man and I thank God for putting him in my life. I could share stories for hours but what I’m trying to say is, Terry had a tremendous impact on my life and I loved my brother. I love you Terry and please tell my sweet Kay hi for me. 

I'm not sure 2000 characters are enough for all the memories I have of the Preacher.  I'll save most of them for me, but here is one of my favorite stories he shared. (I wasn't in the room at the time.) It was Vacation Bible School and Preacher walked in to say hi to the 3 year olds. He visited a minute, as I'm sure we all know his way. ❤ Later, the teacher of the class told him one of the kids asked after he left, "Was that God?" He said it was because of his size. Ha. The more I think of it, it was probably because they felt the enormous love he had that just made you know that Jesus was there. 
I am going to miss my cousin, however once removed we we may be. My Pastor.  My partner in crime. My friend.  Thanks for raising me, Preacher. I will love you forever.  -Jessica

Terry has always been my spiritual role model.  As you no doubt have heard many times this past week, his impact on both our lives is immense and eternal.  The first words to come to my mind when we heard of Terry's passing was the lyrics to that song "Thank You":

God must have been thinking of Terry when he gave the writer those lyrics.  You could add a hundred new verses of different scenarios to describe his life.  He will need an 18 wheeler to carry the crowns that he will lay at Jesus’ feet.  From teen IMPACT trips, to going with him to assist with children’s crusades (including getting my suede shoes peed on by an intoxicated person), to many  long conversations about life and spiritual things, to having him co-officiate our wedding, to the memorable trips to your churches to sing concerts, and many other things; Big T was an integral part of our lives.  You guys are real family to us.  I never got the chance to tell Terry just how much he has meant to me and tell him “Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am a life that is changed”, but I want you to know how much both of you mean to both of us.  I could write a War and Peace sized book about you and Big T and your ministry and friendship to us.  Please know that if Terri and I can ever do anything for you, please let us know.  That is always a saying said as courtesy, but we mean that from the core of our hearts.  We love you and pray for God’s calming peace and blessings upon you.

We were saddened to hear of Terry's passing. What a great and fun guy he was! He will be greatly missed. He is rejoicing and whole in the presence of Jesus for eternity. We send our love, hugs, thoughts and prayers to Donna and the family!

Mr. Roediger  was an absolute sweet dear person! So caring and prayed for me, my husband and my son every time I came to see him! I definitely enjoyed every visit! He will be missed. Continued prayers to Donna and the rest of the family

The song ‘shepherd boy’ was sung at Terry’s memorial yesterday. It’s all about God seeing us, even as innocent children… And knowing we can become a king/Queen for His kingdom. Terry had that vision of all children. It was evident  in his leading the huge Children’s festival  on the West Texas district. What a great time to see children share their talents for Jesus… Whether it be with singing, instruments, or some other gift. 

From Fern Kissell- Bentley = Terry and Donna are my heroes during the 20 some years that I have known them while living in Texas.   It is a great honor to us the Kissell's family doing many things for them and in return they have helped us to grow stronger in the Lord.   I do not understand why he had to suffer so much with his body.   God knows what He is doing, so we must give God His praise.   He is in heaven with Jesus for He is the Tree of Life.   His body as we know him as Terry has returned back to loving arms of our Mother Earth for we are made dust.   His soul is free from his body that has betrayed him.   His new body will not betray him ever.   About Donna, she has done me great lots of good by writing Terry's sermons because I could not hear.   Also, being a great servant to the ministry as a faithful wife of Terry.   She has helped Terry over the years while he was sick.   That is hard work taking care of loved ones when they are sick and can't do much of anything.   They are heroes to me.   Remember Terry is not dead, dead, he has a soul and he spend his life getting to know more about Jesus.   His body is at rest at last.   I can see him playing football with Peter.   I am proud of you both.   Now friends who lives in Texas, I ask of you to keep on praying, support, give any helping hands to the family.

What a blessing to be with family and friends today at Terry’s memorial. It was evident on the faces of everyone,  the love he poured into your lives. What an amazing love story which  began even before Donna and Terry were born. Each of their moms sharing a baby shower as they were both pregnant. Amazing to see how God‘s hand was on their lives as they were growing up, becoming husband and wife, raising a family, and serving in churches around the country. Their influence in winning/loving  others into the kingdom of God will be seen for generations to come. Go rest high my friend… Well done good and faithful servant! 
You taught me to experience  Grace in ways Greater than ever as Jesus used you as an amazing conduit of his love. You showed me  the body of Jesus extends way beyond my particular tribe. 

     As I count my blessings one of the greatest is the week I got to spend with Terry an Memaw. 
     During that week I learned a lot about  their love for God and people. . One of  the best memoriea of that week was as I sat painting Memaws finger nails Terry talked of everything from his childhood to meeting Donna, the true angel of his life. Terry and Memaw literally told something 
 about every family member and friend who  they now call family.  Terry showed me pictures and memorabilia as he talked about  so many beautiful memories of his life. That night as we all were ready for bed, Terry said,  "I feel like we were on vacation too." The memories he shared brought him to a place of pure joy. 
     I will forever be grateful for the time I got to spend with both of them  and  became one of those friends, now called  family. Mark and I love you all so much. 

My family has always called him Pastor Terry, but I called him my Papa T. He really was my 2nd dad ever since Kadee came knocking on my door 39 years ago asking me to play when they moved to Martha Lane.

Papa T was the most loving and patient man.  I spent most of my life in his church and he was the one that baptized me when i was younger which is probably my most treasured memory of him.

He loved his kids and always treated me like one of his own. Every time Kadee and I wanted to do anything like go to 711 for a slurpee and candy, roller skating, or to the movies, if he said no then we would remove his socks and shoes and start tickling his feet till he said yes. It never took long before he was grabbing his keys. You knew when he hugged you you were loved. You felt it.

Papa T, I am going to miss you. My family and I love you so much! Thank you for your love, compassion, and bringing Jesus Christ in to my heart. I love you always and we'll see you again.

Terry will always be a friend of mine and he touched multitudes of lives more. As Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled”. Terry lives this day in Paradise.

I only met Terry a few times through my dear friend, Nancy Roediger.  She is a sister-in-law of Terry and has always shared special stories of the Roediger family, whom she dearly loves. I also became friends with Terry's younger sister,  Kim here in Fort Worth and so longed for Kim to get well and shared the sorrow with the other Roedigers over the passing of Kim.  I could sense what a kind and loving man Terry was and grieve most for his family.  I send each of you my most sincere Sympathy and pray that God will sustain you through your faith and the wonderful memories you shared with Terry.

Terry was filled with the overflowing of Christ’s character.  He was always kind and compassionate to everyone. It was an honor to be his prayer partner. He loved God , family and others with total abandoned. I was richly blessed by this awesome man of God. Donna you are the amazing woman that got to be his partner through life. I pray that you experience God’s  love, joy, peace and comfort during this season in your life.
 

Terry holds a very special place in our heart.  I was blessed to be his cousin.  So thankful that he did our premarital counseling and our wedding.  He was an encouragement and was always there with a smile.  We always laughed (and laughed hard!) when we were around he and Donna.  He always loved us and our girls.  He is someone that we should strive to be like, as he is a godly example.  We will miss you Terry, but we look forward to seeing you on the other side.  We love you!

I love this Man of God so much.... he helped me see the Kingdom of God in fresh new ways. He gave me the mission statement as we went to a new church in 1998 “preach Jesus, love people.” That was Terry! Even in his most difficult moments, Terry continued to ooze the love of Jesus. He told everyone about Jesus. It was like they were the closest of friends- BTW, they were❤️

To have been able to call you dad is one of the biggest honors of my entire life.  From the first time I ever meet you I knew what a kind and gentle person you were.  I reflect back on all the memories of us playing softball, racquetball, basketball, golf and talking sports. You first knew me when I was 19 and helped mold me shape and guide me through much of my life.  You never stopped loving me or praying for me even when I least deserved it.  Only a true Man of God would be able to do that.  
I will miss your phone calls, knowing it was always  going to be one of two greetings...Hey Son!  or Hey Craiger!
I sure hope you knew how important you were to me and how much I loved you.

I love you dad!  I will strive to be a better man and continue to try and strengthen my relationship with God so I can be assured to see to again one day.

So many fun times: Hilarious deer hunt/ unsuccessful but so great memories.
Terry was not used to a two log pot belly wood burning stove in the cold log cabin. Terry woke up cold, managed to get 5 logs into the stove.  Everything within 5' of the stove was charred and clothes were crisp to desentigrate when touched. The stove was glowing red for hours as Terry stood firewatch.
Then there was the rock. That perfect spot for a view of the deer coming from the fields. We told Terry to climb up the side trail and come down the shellrock slide. Terry decided he would climb the shellrock slide since it was a shorter distance? By sunrise, with gun and canteen and lunch sack in his backpack, Terry had only climbed about  20' up the hill and was asleep exhausted behind a small bush. Oh the noise of the rocks sliding down the hill and the grumbling 
"I'm going to shoot those guys as soon as the sun comes up!", thinking we had pulled a trick on him. 
Terry, you were a perfect fit into our family's lives as friend and pastor.

Terry was the one of the most loving and caring people you would ever meet. He gave me heck over being a Dumas Demon, but I loved him even though he was a Phillips Blackhawk!! I know I will miss him. I have a few words of how I would describe Terry....sweet, kind, soft spoken, teddy bear! I remember the first time I ever met Terry.   I was in high school, I was friends with his daughter Teri Dawn (still friends, she’s my Ya-Ya sister) I came over to there house to talk about boyfriend problems, you know teenager stuff with Teri Dawn. I remember him sitting in his favorite chair in the living room and in a very soft spoken voice he introduced himself to me. We all talked for awhile and if I’m not mistaken before I left the room Terry ask if he could pray  with me and from that day on it was like I had known Teri’s dad forever. You could talk to him about anything, rather it was good or bad,  he always had a way to make you smile.  I will always remember his kindness! Laurel Bruun

I've known Terry for many years.  He was one of the ministers performing our wedding in 1981.  When I was pastoring, at Durant, Oklahoma he came  to hold a children's crusade.  One session he and his big bird chased me (Brance) down the aisle toward the front of the sanctuary where he slipped and fell sliding toward the altar.  No one was hurt but I still have that memory and get a good laugh to this day.
     Brance and Terry both pastored  the church at San Antonio East Terrell Hillls.   Connie remembers his pastorate there and the fun times they all had together.

He will always be “Pastor Terry” to me. At one point, he told me that I didn’t need to call him that any more but to me he will always be my pastor, my “Pastor Terry”. His spiritual guidance and example never ended and will continue to inspire my own walk with the Lord. I was incredibly blessed to have Pastor Terry present and a part of each major step in my spiritual journey. He dedicated me to the church as a baby, he prayed with me at camp to surrender my life to obedience to Christ and baptized me that cold, cold Sunday. I was so grateful to have him later officiate my wedding. Pastor Terry taught and showed me that the Lord speaks to His children.  Pastor Terry introduced me to a God that is near and responsive. Last year as our family struggled to discern whether God was leading us to Thailand, Pastor Terry called and asked why the Lord was telling him we were moving to Thailand when we had been living in China. Even while he did not fully understand the situation the Lord used and spoke through him. I write to you now from Thailand because Pastor Terry showed me a faith that was worth it. I am so grateful to have known such a man. My heart is comforted knowing he is united with His Lord and pain-free. Thank you, Pastor Terry, for living a life of faith that was relational and passionate. I love you more than french fries love ketchup. 

Pastor Terry blessed our lifes in so many ways I loved writing him cards and letter's over the years. he took me just as I was and loved me anyway. I sure will miss him a lot. I am here for you Donna and family Your in our prayers June and Larry Contino

You taught me how to love, how to be a friend, how to be better. You wiped my tears, made me laugh, took care of me when I was sick, told me the best stories, and scratched my back. I will miss all of that, but  I do thank God for taking away your pain. I wanted to do that for you but couldn’t. 
 In my life you are the only person who never made me feel less than. You loved me and all of my flaws.  God chose the perfect man to be my daddy, and I’m so blessed that he did. Thank you for choosing to being my daddy. I will always be your baby girl.  

Terry, that name brings so much memories & joy to my heart. He was such a special friend, mentor, partner in many different ministries we got to share. 
Children talent & Quizzing for many years was a highlight for me & our family. 
Doing “Don’t do Drugs” with puppets & improv. Always brought memories to cherish. Conversations about life, struggles &  how to love Jesus better. 
You taught me so much. I look forward to seeing you in heaven. I’ll always your encouraging words.

You truly changed my life, Pastor T. Since a little bitty girl, I always knew you were on my side (cheering me on and praying for me). I always said you had a hot line to God and I will forever believe that. I will  hold you in my heart forever, Pastor Terry. I can only imagine, as you entered the gates of Heaven...the ANGELS were singing, I have no doubt in my mind! I love you so very much and will miss you dearly! Thank you for being such an amazing man of God...you touched more lives than you know. ❤️ your macaroni girl

Not a memory, but this is what I was feeling 2 days after losing my Poppa.
It’s always late at night when I start to get sad. When there are no distractions, no voices, and no one to take care of.  I think about how I’ll never see his blue eyes looking at me lovingly from behind his glasses. How I will never hear him call me his Angel again. How I’ll never get to watch our silly movies that we watched every time we were together. One being o brother where art thou, to which we would quote “we thought you was a toad” and laugh. All of the times he picked me up from school, all of the 7/11 visits where I got a slurpee and candy. All of the sleep overs where we would watch twister on the projector. We just loved being in each others company. He was my person growing up. He understood me, accepted me, and loved me for all of my flaws. He never stopped praying for me and over me and my family and I truly felt safer knowing that. We always said he had a direct line to God. I wish I had spent more time with him, I wish I had called him more, I wish Grayson could have known him like Adalynn got to. I know deep down that my Poppa loved me but I can’t help but want to hear those words one more time from his voice saying “I love you my angel”. “I’m so proud of you”. 

I’m proud of you too Poppa. You are THE example of what a Beautiful. Caring, Godly, & selfless man is. 

Give everyone a hug from me when you get up there. Because one thing I am thankful for. Is that I never once have to question where my Poppa went. He is in heaven.

Terry was my patient about 5 years ago. I was coming out as a home health caregiver. What a sweet and caring soul. I always enjoyed seeing and talking with him. He never failed to ask me about my family and offered his words of wisdom. I admired his servant’s heart and I have no doubt he will hear “well done, my son” from his Heavenly Father. I look forward to seeing Terry again one day. 

Our lives and the lives of our families have crossed paths since Terry played football at Phillips High School. One of his coaches was my Uncle, Bobby Williams. Later in our lives, my family moved next door to Sid and Mary Carpenter (future in-laws of Terry). We have many good memories, too many to write. Our lives continue to intertwine.  One of my very best friends in my whole life is the sister of Donna Carpenter Roediger, Deena Rea. I love the whole Carpenter Clan. 

Terry was one of the kindest souls I have ever met, a gentle giant. I can say he truly was a champion for the cause of Christ, before I met him and to his last breath, He was faithful and cared deeply for others.  I heard an old gospel song the other day and I could clearly picture the words of the song describing Terry, "There goes a Godly Man". We love you Terry and we will miss you so much...till we meet again brother.

Pastor Terry was my first pastor other than my dad. I’ve always had a special place in my heart for him. I was so glad when we were able to connect again through Facebook and he quite often shared encouraging words on my posts. RIP Pastor Terry. Prayers for Donna and the family.

I grew up at First Church of the Nazarene in Odessa, Tx . Pastor Terry taught me as well as my brother and 4 cousins. He loved us like his own children. We were always excited to see him on Wednesday and Sundays. He taught us the bible with pupets.. He made learning about God so fun.. I'm so grateful Pastor Terry has been a part of my families life ... He touched all of us in different ways.. We will miss him..

I remember the first time I visited Pastor Terry's church I came away thinking "that was one of the happiest pastors I have ever met." And that stuck with me. Thinking back on that all these years later I realize what an awesome testimony that was. Of course he was happy, he had the best news to share in all the world! I am glad I got to be part of the church and that youth group for that period of time in my life. Pastor Terry was truly a wonderful man.

Terry and Donna and John and I got to be first time great grandparents together.   What a joy Terry has always been to the family.  You’ve kept the faith, followed the course and now have received the crown promised to all who believe.

Pastor Terry is  very dear to my heart . Has been since I was a little girl . We lived in Killeen Tx and he was our pastor.  I was very shy and struggled with a few things . I can remember my Sunday school teacher made fun of me for not reading a word right . Which made me very upset.  I wanted to quit church but Pastor Terry talked to me , he showed me so much love it helped my hurting heart and made me want to stay at church . This may not seem like much but to a hurting child , for a grown up to take time and listen then talk to you in such a way , it makes your heart smile its its everything to me . Ive never forgot what he did for me and never will . I will always have a special place for him in my heart . I used to write him , when he first started getting sick , my mom told me he still had my letters im 45 years old now . Forever my Pastor and the puppets were a pretty awesome bonus . I believe I still have his picture with one of his puppets.  I will pray for peace for his family,  but I know he is up in heaven with the kids laughing and playing. 

Where to begin? The Roedigers have been part of our family for almost 40 years. Pastor Terry and his puppets were very special.  We enjoyed being part of his church family for many years.  We love you forever. 

Oh those sweet memories back in the early 70's there on the corner of Grandview and Lyndale in Odessa.  The First Church of the Nazarene was blessed with such wonderful and talented folks who wanted to see that everyone got saved and would make it to heaven.  Terry and Donna and the Dawsons  added so much to this effort.  The children's church was always doing something innovative and entertaining to the children, but it always contained the message of the Savior.  What wonderful days those were and I consider myself to have been truly blessed to have attended that church at such a time.  It was on fire for God because the people were on fire for God.  The Roedigers played such a large part in that.  I offer my thanks to Donna and Terry.  



I knew of Terry through his precious sister in law, Deana.  I see in his picture that he was “absolutely precious. “ Condolences to his family and especially to Donna.  May all your memories bring great comfort and joy in the days ahead.

I met Terry when he came to Borger to help marry Deena and I. He forgot to pronounce us husband and wife so I always tell people Deena and I loved in sin for our honeymoon.  Then we met up with Terry & Donna in Oklahoma City and he finished his job. We have so many memories... I really loved him so much!!!

Words seem so inadequate to describe how much Terry meant to me as a lifelong friend, literally. We grew up together in Phillips, Texas, and shared all the same experiences in that close-knit community for years. Terry was the friendliest guy you'd ever meet. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone - no sarcasm, no ridicule (even the friendly kind) - nothing negative ever. In fact, he's the only person I ever knew who was continually trying to lift those around him up. My wife went to church in Borger with Terry and Donna, so when I went to church with her in high school, there was Terry; always welcoming, always kind, always considerate. When he went into the ministry, I was not surprised at all. That profession fit his personality and his ethics perfectly. I have no doubt that Terry is enjoying himself right now more than any of us can imagine. Someday we will see him again. I really look forward to that reunion. Our heartfelt condolences to Donna, his daughters and the rest of his family. One thing that will never change: Terry was, is, and will always be a man of God. Fly high, Blackhawk.

Daddy, it’s so hard to believe you are gone. I was beyond blessed that God chose you to be my Daddy. You taught me so much about love, kindness, grace and mercy. I’m honored that so much of you is who I am. I can only hope to be 1/2 of the person that you were to so many. I’ll miss you everyday but know I will see you again and while not having you here on Earth any longer you’ll always be a part of me and watching over me.   I love you so much ❤️

We moved from Texas in early 80’s and left most of our family behind.  Our church was all we had for a while.  Those are some of our fondest memories.   Our deepest sympathies and best hugs.

I count it a privilege to have had Pastor Terry in my life during my teen years. As the Children’s Minister at OFCN, he, Donna and Teri Dawn became a part of our family. We Smiths loved them as if they had always been a part of us. The Roedigers and the Dawsons showed me what it meant to live a life for Christ just by being who they were. Lots of laughter filled that time of my life and always being welcomed into their homes made me feel safe and secure. Even after   Pastor Terry left Odessa, they remained close to us for many years. Pastor Terry lived a life that closely aligned with his love of his Lord and Savior and made sure that he shared that love with those that he came I contact with. Pastor Terry, thank you so much for sharing a small part of your life with me.
