Valerie loved Jesus, music, and all things Irish. Singing and dancing are how we will always remember her – full of life and a resilient Spirit that inspired us all. In her final days, she would often sing the Christian Gospel Hymn “What A Day That Will Be,” which brought her much comfort. To know Valerie was to know her “joie de vivre,” her enjoyment of life! She was always smiling and always looking to be on the sunny side of the street.

Valerie Alice Cherry Hartwig had a favorite scripture from the Song of Solomon:
10 My beloved speaks and says to me:
“Arise, my love, my beautiful one,
and come away,
11 for behold, the winter is past;
the rain is over and gone.
12 The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove
is heard in our land. -ESV
The rain is over indeed; rejoice she is home again.
