Velma was born to Alberta and Colonel Powell, Sr. January 6, 1942 in Bastrop, Texas.
Velma married Wilbert Jones Sr., June 17, 1960. With Wilbert, she made a life in Austin, Texas, where she raised their six children: Steven, Karen, Jeffery, Wilbert Jr., Cheryl, and Jennifer.
During her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and most importantly studying her bible.
She had a kind and generous heart, and was always giving to others.
She leaves behind wonderful memories of her life with her husband, six children, her sister Addie Knotts, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, her nephew, and countless friends.
