Verna Lea Smith, “The Butterfly Lady”, stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, October 6, 2016. Service: 10 am Thursday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. The family will accept visitors from 6 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Verna was born on January 17, 1942 in Hope, Arkansas to Harvey Cook and Verlie Mae Haston Devoe. She met her husband, Lee; at age 15 and they enjoyed 59 years of a wonderful marriage together. She enjoyed reading, sharing her faith in the Lord, and sharing inspirational hand-outs with the ladies of the church she attended. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Florence Cook; sons, Charles Edward Smith and Johnny Ray Smith. Verna has left her memories to be cherished by her husband, Lee Smith; daughter; Kathy Hoyt; son, Jeff Smith; grandchildren, Leah Lopez, Michael Hoyt, Jessica Welch; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
