Violet (Vi) Doris Pitts Eason, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was called home to Heaven Wednesday evening, April 30, 2025. Welcoming her were her husband of 59 years, Richard (Dick) Eason, and her granddaughter, Deborah Dawn (DeDe) Tyson.
Vi was born September 15, 1930, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was admired, respected, cherished, and loved by all who knew her. She graduated with honors from Tarrant County College (TCC) and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She retired from TCC in 2006 after working in the Distance Learning program for seventeen years. She regarded raising her family as her greatest achievement, finding profound fulfillment in nurturing and guiding them with love and care. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, who considered her their hero and their rock. She particularly cherished large gatherings with family and friends, especially when they were overflowing with laughter.
While she loved her family and friends deeply, she loved the Lord even more. Her unwavering faith was the most important thing to her, and she was immensely grateful for the wonderful life the Lord had given her. She worshipped at Central Bible Church in Arlington, and she was a prayer warrior and an encourager. She leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, and generosity. She began each day reading the Bible, praying and meditating, and she found joy in sending cards and notes of encouragement to her family, friends, and other acquaintances.
She loved traveling and visited 42 of the states in the United States; numerous provinces in Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec; several islands in the Caribbean; and many countries in Europe, including England, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. She had an adventurous spirit and went white water rafting in New Mexico (even though she was scared of the water), snowmobiling and hot air ballooning in Colorado, zip lining in Hawaii (at the age of 84), swimming with stingrays in Grand Caymon, and riding in helicopters in New York City and Hawaii, and she braved freezing temperatures for hours to watch the Northern Lights in Alaska. One of her favorite expressions after doing almost any activity with family and friends was, “We made a memory!”
She was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching tennis and the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks. Two of her favorite sporting memories included being in New York City to watch Andy Roddick win the US Open tennis tournament and standing and cheering non-stop as the United States clinched the Davis Cup in tennis in Fort Worth. After taking a creative writing class in college, she also found a love of writing and often wrote poems or creative stories for family members. She was passionate about nature and rarely rode in a car without commenting on how beautiful the sky, clouds, or trees were and saying what an awesome job God had done with His creations. She was grateful to be an American and loved snapping pictures of American flags with her iPhone on trips across the country.
Although we no longer have her physical presence to grace our lives, her life will continue to inspire, enrich, uplift, and bless us.
In addition to her husband and granddaughter, also preceding her in death were her parents, Trecie and Thomas Pitts, and siblings, Tomie Pitts, Elizabeth Pitts, Henry Pitts, Theodore Pitts, Micky Murray, Goldie Mosley, Edna Mae Couch, and Cherry Curry. Survivors include: sister, Joyce Pitts; loving children, Vicki Barton and husband, Keith; Mike Eason; Beverly White and husband, David; Stephen Eason; and Kevin Eason; grandchildren, Jeremy Tyson and wife, Vespa; Melissa Kennedy and husband, Bryce; Jennifer Stites and husband, R.J.; and Maegan Eason and partner, Ben Bradley; great-grandchildren, Justin Strealy and wife, Veronica; Kirstin Self and husband, Cameron; Madison Marti and husband, Matthew; BrookeLynn Mackin; Alex Kennedy; Andrew Stites; Keatyn Stites; Sadie Stites; and Benny Bradley; great-great-grandchildren, Miles Strealy, Oliver Strealy, Sutton Self, and Cooper Self; sisters-in-law, DeeDee Clark and husband, Joe; Elois Eason; Netta Eason; brother-in-law, Allan Eason and wife, Laurel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
