Billy, as his friends knew him, is survived by his son and daughter in-law, Clayton and Jami Martin of Kopperl, three granddaughters, Shelby and Hunter Adams of Alvord, Brooke and Dalton Ring of Watauga, and Stephanie Martin of Fort Worth; three handsome great grandsons and a great granddaughter on the way; his sisters Betty Roberts of Oklahoma and Bobbie Wright of Arkansas, nieces and nephews, all who loved their uncle Junior.
Billy was born on June 6, 1948 in Tahlequah, OK, to parents Wilburn H Martin Sr. and Ethel Elizabeth Hair. The family moved to Fort Worth where he graduated from Richland High School in 1966. He then served in the US Army as an aircraft mechanic from 1967 to 1969, located in Ft. Wainwright Alaska. He left Alaska and moved back to the Fort Worth area and continued to serve, this time as a Tarrant County Sherriff's deputy, and later a City of Watauga police officer, eventually gaining the rank of Captain with the Watauga PD. When he left the police force he continued to work on his hobbies at home in the garage, building anything with a motor and then rebuilding it. He loved fixing things, being a handyman, working on cars (making them go faster) and working on his farm when he had the chance.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1100 on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at Shannon Funeral home on Rufe Snow Dr, North Richland Hills, TX.
