

Born in Montreal in 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Albertram Wells and Florence Ecta (Dodge) Wells. Eleanor was raised and educated in the Boston area, residing in Cambridge, Dorchester, Beacon Hill, then Framingham, graduating from Framingham High School in 1938.
She went on to Framingham Teachers College, graduating in 1942, and then Harvard University, earning her Masters Degree in 1950.
Ms. Wells worked her entire career in the Framingham Public Schools, teaching sixth grade her first year, the fifth grade at the Hastings school, Jonathan Maynard School, and others in the district. Eleanor was proud of the fact that she remembered all of her students from over the years. She was the president of the Framingham Teachers Association, President of the Residents Group at Westborough Willows. Eleanor was also President of the Framingham State College Independent Alumni Association, and had an active role in the planning of the Framingham State College Anniversary Celebration.
Eleanor was a long-time member of the Grace Congregational Church, and was a member of their choir.
She loved music, especially the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Eleanor travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was an avid stamp collector, enjoyed reading, and was a gourmet cook.
Eleanor performed in the pageant in 1930, commemorating Boston’s 300th anniversary at Boston Common. There she saw Ann Hathaway, a well-known Boston matriarch, and walked inside the State House Dome.
A memorial service will be held at 1 o’clock on Friday March 20, in the Grace Congregational Church, 76 Salem End Rd. FRAMINGHAM, relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Grace Congregational Church.
