

FRAMINGHAM – Harold Allen Reed of Framingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, at the Metro West Medical Center. He was 90, and the beloved husband of 49 years of the late Jean R. (Hermes) Reed.
Born in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Harold A. Reed and Elsie (Ferguson) Reed. Mr. Reed was a 1941 graduate of Dorchester High School for Boys, then then pursued his accounting degree at Bentley College; graduating in 1946.
He served his country during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the United States Army, and worked as a Marine Inspector and Surveyor for the Federal Government aboard the Hospital Ship, Louis Milne. More recently, Mr. Reed worked as an accountant and Comptroller for Lyon Distributors in Worcester, formerly Framingham Bottling Co., retiring in 1986. After retirement, he enjoyed working with his son Scott, at Tool-Pro Distributors.
Harold was a member of the Algonquin Lodge AF&AM in Braintree order of Freemasons since 1948, and attended the Middlesex Lodge; the Neponset Valley Royal Arch Chapter in Norwood; Natick Commandery; American Legion – McGrath Post; as well as the Bentley College Blue & Gold Society Alumni Association. Mr. Reed was a member of Plymouth Church in Framingham, and was a former building committee member. He was also a trustee of Christ Church, Unity in Brookline. He spent many years as the Treasurer for Troop 12 Boys Scouts in Framingham.
Harold is survived by his son, Scott Reed of North Grafton and his daughter, Linda Tolman of Bass River, MA; his granddaughter, Emily Tolman; his sister Nancy Hellberg and brother in law Kurt Hellberg of Wayzata, MN; his niece and nephew John and Nancy Lee Johnston of Glastonbury, CT and his niece Melissa Bowen-Rees of Richmond, Virginia. He was the brother of the late Phyllis Kimball and Dorothy Johnston.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock on Friday May 23, at the Plymouth Church, 87 Edgell Rd., Framingham Center. Relatives and friends are kindly invited, and may call on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Wadsworth – Chiappini Funeral Home, 318 Union Ave. FRAMINGHAM. Private interment, Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
