Dr. William F. Zimmer, Jr., of Worcester, died Monday May 2, 2011 at Notre Dame Longterm Care Center. He was 87 and the husband of the late Calfern Volt Zimmer. He was born June 4, 1923 Glouster, in Ohio and was the son of the late William F. and Grace Gilbrath Zimmer. Dr. Zimmer was an Organic Chemist in research and was employed by the former Norton Company in Worcester; retiring in 1985 after 22 years with the company. He served with the United States Navy in World War II from 1943 to 1946 when he was Honorably Discharged as a Petty Officer Second Class. Survivors are his 6 children; William F. Zimmer, III of Dover Plains, NY, Kathryn Lynn Arslen of Booneville, NY, Thomas John Zimmer of Wakefield, RI. Patricia Ann Zimmer of Carver, MA, Elizabeth Caroline Caruso of Barre, MA, and Robert Todd Zimmer of Woodstock, CT. He also leaves his sister, Mildred Williams of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
