Leona Stevens

Leona was born on August 5, 1923 in Franklin, the daughter of the late William and Rose (Smith) Walley. She married Harold Stevens.

Leona worked as a housekeeper for M.I. Bassett Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Charlotteville Baptist Church.

She loved farming and caring for her many animals, but most of all, she cherished the special times with her family.

Leona is survived by her husband of 44 years, Harold Stevens of Franklin; her children, Harvey (Mary Sue) Banks of Schenevus, Clifford (Janice) Banks of Schenevus, Ezelda Burrell of Oneonta, Ford (Jeannie) Banks of Davemport, Louis (Margaret) Banks of Cooperstown, John (Margaret) Banks of New Lisbon and LaVerne (Paula) Morrell of Franklin.

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Roger Banks and her daughter, Mary Banks, as well as two brothers and three sisters.

There will be no calling hours or services at this time.
