

Bert proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He also worked and retired from General Motors as a foreman. Bert was also a devout christian and served as a minister and assistant pastor. He was a very unselfish person who always put family first, and loved spending time with children. After retirement Bert and his late wife Betty, could always be counted on to help out family with anything their family needed especially with the grandchildren. They also helped other families as foster parents, and helped to foster over 50 children.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Lakes in 2014; daughter Joyce Turner; son, Rick Lakes; and brother Earl, Lakes.
Bert is survived by daughters, Janice Fluegeman, and Scarlett Sarbaugh; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Bert will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second Street Franklin, Ohio 45005. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in West Carrollton.
