Bette Lou (Hale) Caldwell, age 87, of Middletown, Ohio, died peacefully with her children and one niece by her side on Thursday July 5, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Lancaster, Kentucky on April 20, 1931 to John and Ella (Morris) Lakes. She was the Founder Director of The Upper Room Coffee House Ministry for several years. She was a weekly columnist called "Caring" in the Franklin Chronicle. She was preceded in death by her father, John Lakes, mother, Ella Lakes, husband, Ernest Hale, and her second husband, Reed Caldwell, and six brothers and sisters. Bette is survived by her son, Steve Hale; daughter, Debbie (Kenny) Gray; sister, Carolyn Minton; three brothers, Dale Lakes, Jearl Lakes and Thee Lakes; grandchildren, Chuck Shields, Stevie Hale, Jonathan Shields, Sarah Hale, Stacey Hale; and six great grandchilren. Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday July 10, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Homes 40 North Main Street Springboro, Ohio with Pastor Ronald Dotson and Steve Hale officiating.
