

Carl was born June 13, 1942 in Tazewell, TN to the late Rev. Charles and Delphia (Griffin) Carpenter.
He married the love of his life, Lucille (Wolfenbarger) Carpenter, whom he affectionately called 'Mouse', on August 12, 1961 in Bean Station, TN. They enjoyed 55 years together working hard, raising their children and enjoying their grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; son, Dr. Gregory Lynn Carpenter and his wife, Teresa, of Hamilton, OH; her children, Chandra Gabbard, Sasha VanCleve and Kelly VanCleve; daughter, Tammy Gaye Carpenter Mullins RN, her husband, Joe, and their children, Daniel Paul and Sarah Lynn Mullins of Cedarville, OH; a brother, Gary Joe Carpenter of Franklin, his wife, Debbie, and their children, Lisa Carpenter Shane, Leslie Carpenter and David Carpenter; special girls Jordan Lewis Shughrue and Hannah Wolfenbarger as well as a host of family and friends who will treasure his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Kelly Lynn Mullins.
Carl was a lifelong resident of Franklin, graduating from Franklin High School in 1960.
His professional truck driving career included service with Sun Oil Company and ABF Freight System from which he retired in 2002. Known as "Freight Train", Carl completed his 37 year driving career with over 3 million miles driven accident-free.
Carl enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, bluegrass music, hunting ginseng in the mountains of East Tennessee and driving the tour bus for his son-in-law, Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers for several years.
He professed faith in Christ in 1954 and was a member of Cedar Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Thorn Hill, TN.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 26 from 4-7p. Funeral services will be immediately following at 7pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin, Ohio with the Rev. Noah Lane officiating. Burial at Woodhill Cemetery, Franklin, Ohio will be at the convenience of the family.
