Dear Cheri and family, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. Although I did not know Carl, I do remember him. Cheri , It is so sad that families have away of  getting away from one another. That does not matter, we are still family and I  want to send my sympathies to the entire family. Bonnie and myself send our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Carl was such a joy to be around when he would come into Dillman's! Never had a cross word for anybody. Great memories. Prayers of comfort for the family.

Dad always made sure whatever his children loved to do he would find a way to make it happen, whether it was piano lessons, hunting, playing basketball, etc...
Like a lot of little girls, I LOVED horses. From Sun up to Sun down I would beg Dad for a pony. I did not know that all along Dad had been talking to a neighbor, Gib Bolton. He was a 4H advisor and happened to have a pony his daughter outgrew. One day Dad and I took a ride to an old barn. There were lots of adults anf kids having a meeting, a 4H meeting. After the meeting, Gib walked out of the barn with a very furry red colored pony. Her name was "Thunder". He saddled her up and Dad said, "get on!" That was one of the most exciting days of my life! I ended up showing that pony and other horses in 4H for ten years. My life's course was forever changed because of my Dad and his desire to give his kids a life filled with love and wonderful memories. Ever since that fateful day when Dad and I took a car ride to the country, I have been involved with horses and helping other little kids realize their dream of riding horses. Thank you Dad for making my dreams come true.

Carl was my supervisor at Rainbo Baking. He was the kindest, most caring and most professional routeman I have ever known. He truly taught me how to run a route, be a SALESMAN and be a human being. I cherished our days at Rainbo Baking. When I saw Carl in Kettering Hospital in April he was upbeat and the same old Carl. He was truly one of a kind and ran a route until he was 75 years young. A group of “Old” Rainbo and Butternut breadmen started having breakfast at Golden Nugget to reconnect. Carl wasn’t able to make it but it is Supervisors and Routemen like him that molded me and others into SALESMAN. He will be missed and PRAYERS to his family. One of a kind that everyone he touched was better for it. RIP Carl! Well done my friend.

I knew of Carl before I was involved with the family. I worked for a soft drink distributor through all of my 20's. I spent a lot of time in the back room of grocery stores. Carl was a long time bread route driver. I always noticed him. One of my co workers told me " yeah that's Carl, he's got all those years in and still hasn't retired." Everyone knew him. I always thought he was such a hard working respectful guy. I have seen him on a regular basis for the past five years and always enjoyed talking to him.

Dad loved going on cruises. On one to the Caribbean, we swam with the sting rays. The tour guide was giving instructions on the best way to get off the boat into the water. He began by saying "You can just go off the side of the boat or use the ladder." The three of us girls looked around for Dad. He was no where on the boat. Then we saw him swimming in the water. We proceeded to use the ladder to get into the water. Once we got to Dad, I asked him how he got out here so fast. He said "The man said to jump off the side of the boat, so I did." I said to him "or we could use the ladder." He said "I didn't hear that part." Mom laughed and said "because you heard jump and you did." 
I will forever cherish these memories. I love you, Dad.
Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.
