

He proudly served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Serving in WW II and the Korean War. He retired from Monsanto Research Corporation, Mound Lab as a Metrology Technician. Virgil was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. His favorite past times were shooting pool with family and friends and studying the Bible.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph Pate and Ida Jane (Tittle) Pate; his brother, Arvel "Pete" Pate; his sister, Agnes Price and grandson, Forrest Times. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Kathryn (Buchanan) Pate; his sister, Betty Jewell Linville; his four children, Kathy (Jim) Times, Viki Henderson, Theresa (John) Good, and Aaron Pate; his grandchildren, Doug (Brandi), Nicole, Erin (Adam), Brittney (Scott); his great grandchildren, Jacob (Devra), Zachary (Sonja), Kaylan, Nathan, Megan, Brady, Max (Meghan), Sienna, Madison and Allison; his great great grandson, Theo; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 2pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Leiter Rd in Miamisburg.
