
He was born in West Liberty, Kentucky to the late Charlie and Edna (Potter) Cottle on May 7, 1931. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School and was employed at Armco Steel Mill in Middletown, OH for 38 years. Cortis was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. He was awarded several medals including the Purple Heart Medal for his service. Cortis was a former member of the DAV and the American Legion.
Cortis became a Christian later in his life and loved his Lord. He also loved watching his Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Juanita Cottle; one daughter, Cindy Cottle Reeves of Arizona; one stepson, Wallace Jr. Mullins of Leesburg, Florida; six grandchildren, Mike, Randy, Alicia, Jackie, Cy, and Eli; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Peggy Davis Cunningham of Monroe, OH; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Judy Thorpe; and his beloved dog, Sparky. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Douglas Cottle; and three brothers, Charles Jr., James, and Guy Cottle.
Funeral Service will be Friday, February, 3, 2017, 1pm at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2017, 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
