Curtis graduated from Trenton High School, the served in the United States Navy and the US Air National Guard. After being honorably discharged Curtis worked for B.D. Morgan Construction and Martin Excavating.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 30 years Donna Prater (Mendenhall); daughter, Emily Prater; son, David (Janette) Prater; grandchildren, Cody (Kayla) Osterberger, Gage (Hannah) Prater, Brittany Osterberger, Danielle (Ben) Duffie, Ann Prater, and Mackenna Prater; great grandchildren, Owen, Oakley, Brantley, Kennedy, and Eleanor; and sister, Sharon (Terry) Muterspaw.
