

Delbert Wayne Dawes, 91, of Georgetown, Ohio, died at home Thursday March 19, 2015. He was born in Greenfield, Ohio on February 23, 1924. He was the son of the late Charles and Geneva (Jones) Dawes. In addition to his parents, Delbert is preceded in death by his first wife, Omalee (Comer) Dawes, whom he married February 25, 1946. She died April 19, 2005. Also, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Kenny, Bob, and Dale; also his sisters Ethel and Wanda. Those remaining in his family today are his wife, Ivetta, whom he married, May 24, 2007; his sons, James and wife Paula, Dennis and wife Joan, Charles and wife Jennie, and John and wife Wendy; also his daughter Candy and husband John; Ivetta's children: Rhonda, Mike, and Sherry and husband Steve. There are 11 grandchildren: Tim, Tammy, Tonya, Andrew, Daryn, Steve, Amy, Jason, Danny, David, and Anna; 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Also, Delbert is survived by his brother, Charles. Delbert was a veteran of U.S. Army, serving from March 1946-February 1947. He worked in sales for a time after his discharge from the Army and made his home in Greenfield, Ohio. It was in the mid-1950's that Delbert found the work he truly loved. He became a Christian and began preaching. His ministries include: Battle Run Christian Church, Flemingsburg, KY; Ripley Church of Christ, Ripley, OH; Carey's Run Church of Christ, Portsmouth, OH, Miamisburg Church of Christ, Miamisburg, OH, Springboro Christian Church, Springboro, OH; Sherburne Christian Church, Flemingsburg, KY, and at the time of his death he was preaching for Hilltop Christian Church, Ewing, KY. Sixty-one years of his life was devoted to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home in Springboro, OH. Visitation will be Monday, 4-8 at the Springboro Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11am at Springboro Christian Church.
