

Dr. Eugene H. Gerber, age 86, of Springboro, OH, died Thursday September 25, 2014 with his wife, daughters, and granddaughter at his side. He was born in Paris, France on November 26, 1927 to Eugene and Jeanne (Boitelle) Gerber. He came to the United States in 1945 and received his PHD at the University of Buffalo. Gene retired from the University of Dayton Research Institute where he was the head of the Applied Physics Department. He met his wife of 61 years in Buffalo and together they had seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Jeanne Gerber, grandson Nathan Chandler who passed away on December 24, 2013. Eugene is survived by wife Mary Margaret (Kilcorse) Gerber; two sons, Brian H. (Maryann) Gerber, John F. Gerber; five daughters, Bridget Gerber, Judy A. Gerber, Mary Jean (Mehdi) Zahedi, Mary Kathleen Gerber, Eileen (Brian) Petri; three grandsons, Mohammad Zahedi, Michael Gerber MD, Reza Zahedi; four granddaughters, Bridget Petri, Mariam Zahedi, Allie Petri, Mary Claire Gerber; two great grandsons, Nicholas Chandler, Noah Chandler. While his profession was a nuclear physicist, he was happiest at home with his family. His favorite hobbies were gardening, model trains, and tropical fish. Mass of Resurrection will be Tuesday September 30, 2014 at 12pm at St. Mary Church in Franklin, OH with Reverend James Manning celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
