Florence Whisman

Florence M. Betty Whisman, age 83, of Middletown, went home to be with her Savior Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Liberty Retirement Community. She was born September 1, 1927 in Middletown, the daughter of Martin Downs and Mary Hamilton Downs. Betty was a day care worker at PJs Nursery for 12 years. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie husband, Terry Griffin of Matthews, North Carolina; one son, Ray wife, Cheryl Whisman of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren, Melissa husband, Jamie Connell of Flagstaff, Arizona, Joshua wife, Shannon Griffin of Cincinnati, Ohio; and beloved friends and caregivers Missy Kessler, Eleanor Stewart, Fran Amburgey and Reyna Gullett. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Etta Mae Gabbard, Bessie Caskey, Lula Downs; and two brothers, Harlan and Archie Downs.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am today at the Woodside Cemetery Chapel with the Reverend Terry Ball officiating. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery.
