
Frederick J. Spang, "Sonny", age 75, of Springboro, OH passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his home under Hospice Care. He was born January 9, 1940 in Dayton, OH, the son of the late Frederick and Ruth (Lehman) Spang. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his three sisters, Ruth Spang, Mary Lou Rachlow and Joan Pund. Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Spang; his two daughters, Kim (Brian) Whitt, Tami (Tom) Barlow; two grandsons, Alex and Brody Barlow; granddaughter, Faith Whitt; five brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Spang, Don (Irina) Spang, Norman (Leslie) Spang, Michael (Lisa) Spang, Joe Spang (Pam); five sisters, Bev Wherle, Linda (Bob) Everidge, Rosie Lischke, Theresa (Bob) Lischke, Carolyn (Craig) Howick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Fred retired from General Motors after 36 years of service. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play their sports and also loved camping and boating at Dale Hollow Lake. He was a big basketball fan- especially the Dayton Flyers and the Butler Bulldogs- GO DAWGS! Fred will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank all of the nurses, aides and pulmonary therapists at Hospice of Butler-Warren Counties. Their love and compassion was so comforting. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Homes, 40 N. Main Street, Springboro. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 29, 2015 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton, with Father Ron Combs officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton- Memory Bear Program.
