

Grace LeOtie "Lee" Thacker, 90 years old, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Monday, 5/20/13 at 12:25am. She was born on December 31, 1922, in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of Victor C. and Florence A. Shockley Click. She was a 1941 graduate of Middletown, High School. Lee was employed by the W.T. Grant Company until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, joining the church December 4, 1960. From the time she made Faith her home, Lee was a very active member being involved in many different areas of church service. She began working in the church's Food Pantry in 1982 and soon became the Representative for the pantry. Lee was involved at one time in the After School Program, and has been membership secretary for the church since 1984. In that capacity Lee has taken care of the church attendance records, and has been a great source of volunteer help and assistance to the office staff and various ministers during her years at the church. Lee was a Sunday School teacher for 15 years and a member of the Willing Workers & Iwidombe Sunday School Classes. Lee was a member of Girl Scouting for 80 years. She joined the Girl Scouts in 1933 and in 1939 received the highest award given to a Girl Scout, the "Golden Eaglet Award." When the "Golden Eaglet" was presented to Lee, she and Anna Ruth Blasberg were the last two Girl Scouts in Middletown to receive this award before the honor was ordered discontinued by the National Girl Scout Headquarters. Lee was also awarded a certificate given for "Distinguished Service to Young People through Scouting" by the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. This award was given to her at the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church of West Ohio in 1978. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Sandra Lee and Carlyle Maupin of Cardington, Ohio, two sons and a daughter-in-law Rick and Von Thacker of Franklin, Ohio and Doug Thacker of Middletown. Five grandchildren, Cliff, Lissette Wright II of Washington, D.C. Brandy and Justin Thacker of Franklin, Ohio, and Austin and Jessica Thacker of Middletown, and four great-granddaughters, Courtney Wright of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Liliana and Leilani Wright of Washington, D.C., and Kenzie Moore of Franklin, Ohio. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Victor R. and William M. Click, and a sister Betty May Sears of Middletown. A son Terry E. Thacker, and in 1997 by her husband of 54 years, James Edward Thacker. Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1:00pm at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Woodside Cemetery. Visitation will be from Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the Funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope United Methodist Church, Franklin, Ohio.
