Lit a candle in memory of John David Evans

I've known John for years as a friend. I am so sorry for your loss. We will all miss the light of his smile and friendship!

Johnny was the guy everyone wanted to be in High School. When I watched him play football and run track he made everything look so easy. His smile and personality were truly one of a kind. Thanks Johnny for being someone I looked up to and wanted to emulate. My best to your family. Rest In Peace my Track brother.

John was one of a kind, a unique individual who always found humor life.  We send love and prayers for all his family and friends.  He will  be missed by all.  The Taylors:  Darrell, Jerrie, Mark, Duane, and Dana.

So many memories I could share of my long time friend. I felt a special bond with Johnny when we found in grade school, that we shared the same birthdate. Sold me my first 2 houses, bought Ryan his first pair of Nike shoes. Your gift of becoming friends with anyone, was a special one. I'll miss you my great friend and forever remember our lifelong friendship.

I played football and ran track with Johnny my freshman year, his senior year, and like everyone else that ever met him, took an instant liking to him. Even though he was older and a speed legend, he was still one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. I remember him returning a punt for a TD in a game, but when he came to the sidelines, he only wanted to talk about was the block by Jamie Johnson that sprung him, "DID YOU SEE JAMIE"S BLOCK?" he yelled, lol. One day in practice, I put John on his butt, and he got up, tapped me on the helmet, smiled his big grin, and said, "Nice job, Cord!" Even though he was a "star" to us younger kids, he never acted arrogant. I don't ever recall seeing Ole John angry or sad, and not smiling and laughing. He always lightened the mood of any gathering he walked into. Everybody knew Johnny was going to do or say something silly, lol. I was only around him for 1 season in 2 sports, but he still became one of my favorite people I ever met. RIP Johnny Evans, you will indeed be missed by all that knew you!

John-John (as our family fondly knew him) was a very nice neighbor and friend.  He and my brother Dennis use to play army together.  Our prayers go out to his family and his parents.

Joyce, Punch & Evans Family … so very sorry for the passing of John.  Today as I Skyped with my Dad & Brother, we shared fun stories about John during our church times together at Hillcrest Baptist.  Those memories will last a lifetime.  May God wrap his arms around you all during this difficult time.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
