Judith “Judy” A. Carpenter, age 77, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Atrium Medical Center. Born December 3, 1948, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of the late Arlie Sandlin and Mary Lou King (Berry) .
Judy devoted 27 years of her life to caring for others through her work with Warren County Human Services. Her compassion, patience, and gentle spirit made her a blessing to countless families. To all who knew her, Judy was a rare kind of person—steadfastly kind, humble, and overflowing with love for those around her. Her faith in God guided every step of her journey, and she lived each day with gratitude, devotion, and grace.
At home, Judy’s love shone brightest in the simple, joyful moments she created. She was an exceptional cook whose meals brought her family together time and time again. Her famous macaroni and cheese and her beloved cat’s head biscuits were staples of every gathering—and unforgettable to anyone lucky enough to enjoy them. Judy also found great happiness outdoors, whether she was tending to her garden, watching birds and squirrels, or scouting out her next frog to eat with a smile and a sense of humor all her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn Sandlin, and Kathryn Pierson and her brothers, Tom and Daniel Sandlin.
Judy leaves behind a family who adored her beyond measure: her husband, Lory Carpenter; daughter, Jamie Evans (Tim Bishop); sons, Kenny (Donna) Carpenter and Kevin Carpenter; grandchildren, James Bowling (Ashley Combs), Dean Evans (Mariah Decker), Nicholas Bishop (Briana Young), and Kenny (Lauren) Carpenter Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jaila, Jaycee, and Jaxie Bowling, Bentley Bishop, and baby Carpenter, who is expected to arrive in June 2026. Judy’s love, guidance, and warmth will live on in each of them.
A visitation for Judy will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second Street, Franklin, OH 45005. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m., with burial at Germantown Union Cemetery.
Judy’s legacy is one of love, service, faith, and simple joys. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
