1955 – 2025
Larry Lee Davidson, age 70, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 12, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton in Middletown, Ohio.
Larry was born in Wilmington, Ohio, on July 10, 1955, to the late Robert Franklin Davidson and Virginia Evelyn Davidson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Patty Davidson; their four children: Shawn (Tina Linville) Davidson, Stephanie (David) Cotrell, Jamie (Sarah) Davidson, and Amanda (Todd) Leach; as well as six grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Libby Davidson, Skyler (Tanner) Patterson, Braden Davidson, Alyssa Cotrell, Jacob Davidson, and Connor Leach. He also leaves behind two brothers, Terry (Pam) Davidson and Edward Davidson.
Larry will forever be missed by his “Sugar.” They met as teenagers at the Highland County Fair, and he loved retelling the story of how he fell for her when “she was just a short little girl.” From that day forward, he became her rock, her protector, and her everything. His infectious smile could always melt her heart. Their love story spanned over five decades, filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion.
Larry will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren, who were the lights of his life. He taught us how to work hard, love unconditionally, and find joy in the simple things. He was the kind of dad and Papaw who would have moved heaven and earth to keep us all under one roof — and if he had his way, we’d all be living together on one big compound.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1977. A jack of all trades, Larry had a passion and talent for construction. He served on the Franklin School Board, taught plumbing at the Warren County Career Center — where he was hands-down everyone’s favorite teacher — and later founded LPD Home Inspection, building relationships with countless realtors and homeowners across the area.
Larry had an incredible work ethic and took great pride in providing for his family. He taught his children and grandchildren how to build, fix, and create — and those memories are forever etched in their hearts. Whether it was tearing up concrete sidewalks, roofing, building pole barns or sweeping floors on job sites, he passed on more than skills — he passed on a legacy.
Larry eventually retired to Florida with his “Sugar,” where he found peace in the morning sunrises, often spent fishing or simply sitting by the water. Retirement also sparked a new hobby: pen-making, and he quickly became a master craftsman, filling his days with creativity and care.
If you met Larry, you didn’t forget him. He didn’t know a stranger and had a true servant’s heart. He was generous to a fault — always giving his time, help, or tools without ever expecting anything in return. He loved people, especially his family. His door was always open, and so was his heart.
When he wasn’t with his family or working, you could find him at Mom’s Restaurant, the casino, or the beach. He loved his recliner, The Andy Griffith Show or any western, and a good conversation. And he always knew how to calm your worries with his favorite saying: “It’ll all work out.”
His sense of humor, easygoing attitude, and ability to find light even in tough moments made him unforgettable. Larry was simply one of the great ones — a father, husband, Papaw, teacher, friend, and mentor.
Taken from us too soon, he still had so much more love to give, more games to cheer on, more great-grandbabies to meet, and more flea markets to visit. But his spirit, his love, and his lessons will live on through all of us.
We love you, Honey, Dad, Papaw — and we know…
“It’ll all work out.”
