Born in Gettysburg Ohio on April 30, 1935, to Wilbur Oswald Farmer and Lois May Kenfield, Lois “Judy” began her life being raised in Woodstock Ohio and then Urbana Ohio. As a young child, she embraced playing piano, influenced by family who played as well. Gifted a piano after her Great Aunt Mary passed away and initially self-taught, she had the honor of continuing a formal education under the tutelage of Kingsley Ganson, the music critic of Urbana Ohio. He had studied under a long line of those who studied under composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Lois “Judy” was extraordinarily musically talented, playing for and with family and friends throughout her life. One of the greatest joys of her life was listening to her children play guitar with their bands in their home. The music was never too loud or too late in the evening.
As a Mother, Lois “Judy” was devoted to raising her four children and supported their involvement in various school and community organizations. She consistently participated in these organizations wherever needed, whether it was to act as Treasurer of her daughter Judy’s dance team, or assist with transportation of her son Ross’s football team. She was steady and reliable, never missing anything in her children’s lives.
Her career began working for the city of Cincinnati Ohio at University Hospital as a Cashier. Through various promotions, she remained working in finance and retired as an Account Clerk Supervisor after 30 years. She would then work for the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk, dedicating an additional 15 years where she finally retired at 78 years old in Urbana Ohio. She would live her remaining years in Franklin, Ohio with her daughter Judy Anderson who she would go on many fun adventures with. They attended many concerts, even traveling out of state at times. They enjoyed simple things together as well such as going for car rides around town and having nice dinners. She was an avid card player and enjoyed going to the Deardoff senior center in Franklin Ohio for euchre each week.
Lois Judith Anderson is survived by her children Ross Edward Anderson, Judy Lynn Anderson, her brother John Kenfield, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Patrick Anderson, and James Stewart Anderson as well as parents Wilbur Oswald Farmer, Lois May Kenfield, and her sisters, Marylou Jetter, Lucy West and Charlene Audry, and sister-in-law Carolyn Kenfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Anderson Funeral Home-Franklin Chapel, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio with Reverend Darrell Christy officiating.
