Martha Schmidt

Martha Jean Schmidt, age 88, of Monroe, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born August 2, 1924 in Middletown, the daughter of Harold Apple and Lillian Schroeder Apple. Martha worked in the Accounts Payable Department at Diamond International. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She is survived by three grandchildren, Cheryl Neel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill Barb Schmidt of New Richmond, Mary Liz Randy Lamb of Liberty Township; four great grandchildren; one nephew, David Alida Szabo of Chicago, Illinois; and one niece, Donna Jean Hollis Blackwell of Centerville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schmidt and one sister, Eleanor Szabo. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.
