

MARY ELIZABETH FLEMING MARSHALL, age 88, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014. Mary was a native of Ashland, Kentucky, and the daughter of French L. Fleming and Betty A. Fleming Rice. Mary was married to Townsell Marshall for 66 years prior to his death in 2011. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown and served on various committees at the church during her life. Mary was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization which supports educational opportunities for young women.
Mary loved to work on various craft projects and worked tirelessly on the First Presbyterian Church Bazaar and the Middletown Hospital Association Annual Bazaar. She also was a life-long fan of Kentucky basketball and watched the Wildcats whenever she could get the game on television.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Townsell Gordon Marshall, and a son, Joseph Fleming Marshall. She is survived by one brother, Joe Fleming and wife Judi of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, Townsell G. Marshall, Jr., and wife Sue of Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Rebecca Marshall Danner and husband Dan of Arlington, Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Marshall of Middletown, Ohio; grandchildren Townsell G. Marshall, III, and wife Kelly, Elizabeth Marshall Downey and husband Brian; D. Marshall Danner, Laura E. Danner, Michael D. Danner, Steven T. Marshall, Nicholas A. Marshall, Emily Marshall Robinson and husband Adam; great-grandchildren, Townsell Drew Marshall, IV, Davis Marshall, Emmaline Marshall, Bryce Downey, Mary Carlin Downey, and Harper Wren Marshall.
Mary's graciousness, kindness toward others, love for her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and warm, loving smile will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, and she will be missed by all with whom she shared her life.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Middletown, with a reception immediately following the service. Burial will be on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Burial Park, Grayson, Kentucky.
