June 9, 1966 – September 2, 2025
Mary “Peggy” Marguerite McGee, age 59, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away in Costa Rica on September 2, 2025.
Mary was born on June 9, 1966, to Steve Cockerham and the late Candice Thacker. She is survived by her father, Steve (Carol) Cockerham; her children, Whitney (Stevie) Bowermaster, Zack (Rachel) Armold, Jake Armold, and daughter-in-law Colby; and her “bonus children,” Cody (Reilly) Brombaugh and Kensey (Sam) Brombaugh. Mary was the proud grandmother of Jase, Grady, Rosie, Phoenix, Rory, Maddie, Macy, Mya, Charlie, and JoJo, who were truly the light of her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Teddy Cockerham, Casey (Ashley) Cockerham, Josh Cockerham, and Rick Thacker, as well as her brother-in-law, Scott Brombaugh, and her best friend, Jennifer (Jimmy) Nickles, who was more like a sister.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Candice Thacker; stepfather, Glenn “Smiley” Thacker; sister, Mindy Brombaugh; stepbrother, David Thacker; and her beloved grandmothers, Sara Carroll and Daisy Cockerham.
Mary graduated from Carlisle Local Schools in 1984 and later earned her nursing degree from Miami University. For over 25 years, she dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse, spending most of her career in hematology and oncology. Her compassion and strength touched countless patients and families during some of their most difficult times.
Beyond her career, Mary’s greatest joy was found in her family and friends. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed kayaking, hiking, painting, and reading, and she never missed a chance to plan a trip. Mary truly lived for a good vacation. She was known for always speaking her mind and never shying away from sharing an inappropriate joke or two, which often left those around her laughing through tears. Her laughter, honesty, warmth, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who loved her.
A Visitation to honor her life will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E 2nd Street, Franklin, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediately following.
