

Robert M. Huntzinger, age 84 of Middletown, died Thursday morning, June 2, 2011, at his residence. Bob was born October 22, 1926 in Middletown, Ohio the son of William M. Huntzinger and Edith Basore Huntzinger. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1944, and attended Miami University, Middletown campus. Bob served in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, attaining the rank of Boatswain Mate 3rd class. On returning from the service, he was employed by Armco Steel for approximately three years. He then formed a coffee vending business which he operated until 1963, at which time he sold the business. He was then engaged in the real estate and insurance business as a salesman for several years. In 1972 he again associated himself with Armco Steel. Robert was a 33 degree mason and a member of Lincoln #693, as well as the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. Bob was elected Grand High Priest for the State of Ohio. He was a life member of Post 3809 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion Post 218. He is a former member of the Middletown Noon Optimist Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as treasurer of the Sunday School.
He was a beloved husband of 59 years to Frances Elieff Huntzinger; cherished father of Bill wife, Nancy Huntzinger of Sylvania, Ohio, Kim husband, Joel Grant of Loveland, Ohio, and Susan husband, Clayton Ash of Maineville, Ohio; cherished grandfather to Andrew wife, Jen Huntzinger, Nathaniel Huntzinger, Kelly and Alex Grant, Jenny and Andy Ash; great grandson, Luke Marshall Huntzinger; a sister, Marjory Jenkins of Portland, Oregon; and his favorite pet cat, Abby. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Phyllis Minor.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tim Doty officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church with Masonic services during the visitation. Burial with military honors by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard will be at the Woodside Cemetery.
