With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Ronald W "Bear" Bachman on May 28, 2026. Bear, as he was affectionately known, departed this world in the gentle embrace of sleep at his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Bear was born on July 30, 1939, in Reading, Ohio, to Grover and Katherine (nee Knoch) Bachman. Growing up in a bustling household, Bear was one of ten siblings. He was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister, and he shared a particularly special bond with his surviving sister, Ruth (the late Bill) Pillings, who remained a constant source of companionship and laughter throughout his life.
For Bear, family was the cornerstone of his existence. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 41 years, Kathy, whose unwavering love and support were a testament to their enduring partnership. Together, they built a family that radiated warmth and togetherness. Bear was the cherished father of Marybeth Maloney-Riley, Michelle (Bill) Fowler, Melanie (Tom) Duenne, and Tim (Beth) Maloney. His role as a father was one he embraced wholeheartedly, and his love for his children knew no bounds.
Bear's pride and joy extended to his grandchildren, Kirstyn, Zachary, Jonathan, Dylan, Hailey, Maggi Anne, and Kassidy, who were the light of his life. He reveled in the role of grandfather and was equally delighted to be a great-grandfather to Eva, Fynn, Remington, Emberlee, Isabella, and Kolter, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Bear dedicated his professional life to his work as an HVAC technician, where he was known for his skill, dedication, and work ethic. His career was a testament to his commitment to providing comfort and care to those he served, a reflection of his nurturing spirit.
Outside of work, Bear was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding solace and joy in nature's embrace. He relished the simple pleasure of spending time with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter that will echo in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a long time member of the Knights of St. John.
A service to celebrate Bear's life will be held on June 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1095, located at 403 W Benson St, Reading, OH 45215. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Bear are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and resilience.
As we bid farewell to Bear, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever guide us. In his memory, let us cherish each moment, embrace our loved ones, and find solace in the beauty of the world around us, just as Bear did so effortlessly.
Rest in peace, dear Bear. Your legacy of love will live on in our hearts forever.
