Roy Edward Baker, age 68, of Powell, Ohio, died Sunday, March 4, 2018. He was born in Franklin, Ohio on October 31, 1949 to Mariel and Alice (Bowles) Baker. Roy served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a lover of sports throughout all of his life. In fact, on most days, you could find Roy either playing, coaching, refereeing, umping, cheering or yelling at some kind of athletic event. Especially if that event involved his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Roy loved the simple things in life and always had a way of making them sound magical. He could make a trip to his beloved Kroger sound like a trip to Disney. He could talk your ear off about ANY action movie. And he could wax poetic about a good steak and lobster tail – especially if it was on sale at Kroger. Nobody would say Roy was a man of few words, but everyone would say he had an incredible way with them. He was preceded in death by his father, Mariel Baker, mother, Alice Baker, son, Kory John Baker, sister, Carol Davidson, and brother-in-law Larry Haney. Roy is survived by his wife Amy Elizabeth O’Neal; daughter Nicole Jo Baker; two step daughters, Katie Colgan (Bill) and Julie Potter (Tim); grandchildren, Lindsey, Michael, Cameron, Will and Finn; sister Sharon Baker-Haney; brother Earl Baker; nieces, Lori Klinefelter and Heather Haney; great nieces, Kara, Mandy, and Kelsey Klinefelter, and Regan Haney; brother-in-law Tom O’Neal. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Friday March 9, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Homes – 1357 East Second Street Franklin, Ohio. Burial will be held in Woodhill Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday March 9, 2018 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a small donation to the American Heart Association in Roy’s name at http://honor.americanheart.org/goto/royedwardbaker.
