It is with deep love and remembrance that we announce the passing of Shantilal Patel, who left us peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:30 p.m. He was 89 years old. Born on August 2, 1936, in Surat, Gujarat, India, Shantilal was the second eldest of nine children—seven brothers and two sisters. From a young age, he demonstrated remarkable determination and independence. At just 12 years old, he left home to learn
the craft of diamond cutting in Surat, setting the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion and profession.
At age 21, Shantilal moved to Bombay and established a family-run diamond business renowned for its craftsmanship and integrity. Under his leadership, the firm flourished and partnered with one of India’s top diamond enterprises. Despite his success, Shantilal remained deeply humble. His greatest pride was always involving family in every endeavor—whether in business or real estate. His vision, discipline, and work ethic united generations and created opportunities that shaped the lives of many.
Shantilal married his beloved wife Manuben in 1956, and together they shared nearly seventy years of deep love, partnership, and devotion. In the early 1990s, Shantilal began spending more time in the United States, eventually moving permanently in 1996 to be close to family. Shantilal is survived by his devoted wife Manuben; his children Hemant (Linda), Parul (Kamlesh), Ajay (Pushpa) and Pragnesh (Trish); his cherished grandchildren Kalindi, Neel, Akash (Natasha), Sneha (Chintan), Divya (Saurabh), and Niharika (Yash); and his beloved great-grandchildren Vivaan, Naiyra, and Kian.
Shantilal will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his humble spirit despite great success, and his belief that love and unity were life’s greatest treasures. His legacy will continue to shine in hearts of all he knew.
