

Sylvia Ruth Lewis, age 79, of Franklin, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, January 16, 2026, peacefully at her home. She was born on May 16, 1946, in Middletown, Ohio, to Milford R. and Maxine G. (Treadway) Dennis. On June 3, 1969, she married her beloved husband, James Lewis Sr.
Sylvia worked as one of the first female officers in Germantown and later retired from the Mound in Miamisburg, where she worked as a security officer. She accepted Jesus Christ into her life in 1974 and faithfully served the Lord from that time forward. Sylvia served alongside her husband in ministry for nearly 30 years, more than half of those years as pastors of Victory Tabernacle. She loved helping others and would do everything she could to assist someone in need and help lead them to Christ.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents; her husband, James Lewis Sr., in 2012; two sisters, Patricia Ann Dennis and Joan Back; and two grandchildren, Matthew Lewis and Robby Lewis.
She is survived by her three sons, Bobby Lewis, Gary Lewis, and James Franklin Lewis Jr.; her daughter, Tammi Johnson; two brothers, Jesse C. Dennis and Joseph W. Dennis; four sisters, Audrey Mae Dean, Gloria J. Gray, Geri J. Farmer, and Kim M. Depew; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sylvia was a precious woman of God who will be forever treasured in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
The family has chosen to have a small, intimate gathering in her memory with family and close friends at Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin, Ohio, followed by a graveside service at Woodhill Cemetery.
