

Thomas Ray Doss, age 78, of Middletown, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. He was born July 29th, 1932, in Dayton, Tennessee, the son of Fred and Opal Matthews Doss. His career started in Tennessee paper mills at the age of 16. He then moved to Monroe, Michigan in 1964 to work at Consolidated Paperboard. He continued on with his career with stops in Quincy, Illinois, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before retiring as Vice President and General Manager from Middletown Paperboard in 1998. During his career, he was called upon as a consultant to help troubled paper mills, that was his expertise. His reputation was well known in the paper mill communities because of his experience and knowledge. Ray enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, playing golf, gardening with his beloved wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Wildwood Golf Club and the YMCA for many years. During his retirement, he often helped out at the family business of Kids Korner in Middletown, enjoying the customers and the children. He is survived by three daughters, Donna Doss of Quincy, Illinois, Connie husband, Steve Ryan of Quincy, Illinois, and Sherrie husband, Doug Pratt of Middletown; and one son, Tom wife, Linda Doss of Plainwell, Michigan. Also ten grandchildren, Angie Burd, Gina Bergman, Joshua Williams, Tommy Doss, Bobby Doss, Douglas Pratt, Johnny Bordewick, Brittney Thrower, Andrew Pratt and David Doss; as well as eight greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Fisher Doss in 2000, and by two sisters and four brothers. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18 from 6 to 8 PM, and the service will be held Tuesday, April 19 at 10 AM, both at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.
