It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda F. (Riley) Thompson. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and servant of Christ. She passed peacefully into glory while surrounded by family on Monday, April 27, 2026.
She lived a life filled with kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her faith and family. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will never fade. Her spiritual foundation in Christ began at an early age at Morris Fork Presbyterian Church. She was a vessel of our Lord to many throughout her lifetime.
Wanda was born October 3, 1942 in Breathitt County, Kentucky to Richard and Amanda Riley. She graduated from Lees Junior College and finished her education at Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors of Education. She married Charles Hayes Thompson on April 9, 1966 and were married for 55 years until Chuck's death in 2021.
Wanda's passion was for her family and raising her children. She is survived by her children,
Dawn (Mark) Kramer of Carlisle and David Thompson of Lebanon, Ohio; her two grandchildren Saige (Samantha) Micomonaco and Gabrielle Micomonaco; and most recently two beautiful great-grandchildren Hayes Anthony and Mayleigh Sophia. She leaves behind sister-in-law, Deborah (Mick) Hyde along with many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply. Wanda spent her life sharing her home through a warm meal for others, a gathering full of games and laughter, a listening ear, or whispered prayers always reflected the heart of Christ. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her parents; and 9 older siblings. Private celebration of life will be held for the family at a later time.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Crossroads Hospice of Dayton.
